Our History

1998
Pipestone Carriers was incorporated on May 15th, 1998 by owner/operator Ben Neudorf. Ben had one truck and a vision to start a business that no one else in Grande Prairie and area had. Ben was looking for a niche in the oilfield industry. After months of research and establishing contacts, Ben decided that hauling pipe for the pipelining industry was the perfect opportunity. Coming from a trucking background, he understood the amount of hard work and long hours that would be required to be successful in his endeavor.

From humble beginnings in 1998 with one truck and one driver, the fledgling business began on a journey that would become one of the great success stories in Alberta. With his motto of “On time every time” and a desire to succeed, Ben began soliciting work in the area. His first customer was Don Vienneau of Hyland Oilfield and a contract to haul 20 loads of pipe from Edmonton to Buick Creek north of Fort St. John. These 20 loads would become the first of thousands to come.

Today
In 2013 Pipestone Carriers celebrated fifteen years of safely loading and delivering close to 100,000 loads of pipe to projects across the western provinces.

A philosophy for slow steady growth and a goal to serve Western Canada (hauling from 2” to 30” pipe) has made Pipestone Carriers a common name with all of the major and minor pipeline companies in Canada. The company now boasts a fleet of 39 trucks and 200 trailers with a staff of over fifty full time employees. During the peak season, Pipestone will add another fifty to seventy-five lease operators and rent as many as 175 trailers to meet the needs of the ever-growing clientele base they service.

Today the main office for Pipestone Carriers Inc. is located on a 20 acre parcel of land with a brand new 20,000 sq. ft. shop and office just east of Grande Prairie on range road 53 north. They have a four bay shop, complete with dual wash bay to service their own equipment and make sure all required inspections are performed. Loads are hauled into this yard from Edmonton, then dispatched to the many remote locations across the three western provinces where they are strung by customers. A satellite office and yard in northwest Edmonton, just off Yellowhead Trail, handles up to seventy loads of pipe a day, loading and dispatching to job sites as well as back to Grande Prairie.

Ben’s strong family background and compassion for people provides an excellent atmosphere for the employees and customers alike at Pipestone. Work hard, have some fun, and get home safely is a mantra strived for every day. This mentality has made it possible for Ben to surround himself with quality people to look after the needs of Pipestone’s customers in an ever changing industry.
